Do you have a loose rug that keeps moving around? To give a sisal or sea-grass area rug some traction, flip it over, and apply lines of acrylic-latex caulk every 6 inches or so. Once dry, you can safely put down your rug; the rubbery strips will hold it in place.

DIY Drain Cleaner:
DIY
Pour 1/2 cup baking soda, followed by 1/2 cup white vinegar, down drain, and cover with a plug or rag. The mixture will work to break down any fats into salt and harmless gas. Flush with boiling water.

Tips
To prevent clogs, make sure your drain has a screen that keeps out solids. In the kitchen, never pour fat down the drain. In the bathroom, brush hair before getting into the shower. And go easy on soaps, shampoos, and especially conditioners and products that contain oils.

When you come across a pan that you have fried or scorched something you could put a little water in it and put it back on the stove. Boil and then take a spatula and rub lightly across the bottom and all the yucky stuff will come off.

Hi~These are great tips. I always bought rug backings that somehow always get bunched up. I can not wait to try the chauking on the sisal. Thank you so much!!!

Thanks for the comment on my Rome pictures! My husband booked the trip via orbitz and found a good deal during Christmas and January 1st. The hotel we stayed at was prefect and I think they are offering deals throughout the rest of the winter / early spring. I am glad I checked out your blog because I remember seeing the stiruppz in Lucky magazine, but I couldn't remember what they were called.
